Steps in Creating A Web Site Strategy

Reaching out to more people
Creating a website these days doesn't require much effort anymore. Companies have also started to join the social networking bandwagon. But participating in social networking is not enough due to their lack of credibility. If you want to come off as a professional business, you need a website as professional as you are. Your web site could help create you a lot more business by making your products and services a lot more accessible.

Any good and helpful website should always have a strategy.
A web site strategy is an entire master plan on how you will build and create a website that will rake in visitors and provide valuable help to them so that they will come back for more. This strategy must include both short term and long term plans; plans for design, development, copywriting, advertising, traffic generation, as well as long term site maintenance.

How to create a web site strategy

1.    Establish goals and a vision for your site or business

The first step is to determine what you want your site to be able to do in the short term, and what you want to achieve in the long term.

As a tip, make sure to have a unique selling proposition only you can provide.

2.    Create a communications plan

A communication plan is a plan on how you will communicate your selling points and other web content to consumers or visitors. This is where you create good copy that visitors can understand easily and hold their interest, even if they just stumble upon your site.

3.    Create a web-based media plan

Step 3 is where you identify your target market and decide what communication tools can best deliver your content to them. Here you will decide on your main key phrases to attract visitors to your site.

4.    Arrange site elements, navigation, and layout

And lastly, you should plan what elements will be in your site, how these will be broken down and arranged into different pages, and how they will look on your web site.

Remember that a good web site strategy aims not only to be able to attract a web presence but also to maintain it.

Some people may be able to create websites that cause a stir and bring in a lot of visitors at first, but eventually fade away into oblivion. This is what happens when you do not have a full strategy for your site.
