Custom web design is the designing process of a web site that begins from scratch.
A lot of web sites on the Internet these days are made from readymade templates where only the content, logos, and color schemes are changed. The owners of these web sites are then limited to only what the templates provide.
Web design that does not use templates is called custom web design.

The Process of Custom Web Design
- The process of custom web design begins with a brief given by the client to the web designer. The brief will contain the client’s company profile, logo, company colors, and everything the client wants the web site to contain, from photos of products, description of products and services, and so on.
- The process then moves on to the conceptualization stage wherein the main information collected from the company will be converted into an actual design, with the focus mainly on the visual appeal. This is often done with a design software such as Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. Then draft of the designs are sent to the client for approval.
- Any requested revisions are then implemented. The final version will then be sent for another approval.
- Once approved, a test site will then be created. This is where web design coincides with web development, wherein the visual elements designed are transformed into an actual, functional web site and the web site content is added.
There are also custom web design services that use 50% template, 50% custom design.
Here perhaps a template is used only as a pattern, but the actual work is still done from scratch.
